Pests we treat in Sydney homes

Household Pest Control for Common Sydney Pests

Sydney homes can face a wide range of pest problems, from cockroaches and rodents to spiders, ants, termites and bed bugs. Our pest exterminators identify the pest, locate where the problem is coming from and choose the most appropriate treatment for your home. We regularly treat these common household pests across Sydney.

Cockroach Pest Control Sydney

German cockroaches are behind most kitchen and unit callouts in Sydney. They breed in the warm, hidden spaces behind dishwashers, under benchtops and around fridge motors, which is why a surface spray rarely fixes the problem for long. That is where our cockroach pest control Sydney service comes in. We place gel bait straight into those spaces and treat the cracks around them, so the whole colony is cleared rather than just the ones you can see. Larger cockroaches coming in from drains and garden beds are treated outside.

Rodent Pest Control Sydney

Scratching in the ceiling after dark usually means rats have found their way into the roof. They climb fences, branches and downpipes to reach gaps along the eaves, then settle into the insulation. Our rodent pest control Sydney service starts by finding out where they are getting in, then we place secure bait stations well out of reach of children and pets and seal those entry points. The sealing matters just as much as the baiting, because an open gap invites the next one straight back in.

Spider control Sydney treatment around the outside of a Sydney homeSEASONAL

Spider Control Sydney

Most spiders around a Sydney home are black house spiders, the ones responsible for the messy webs across window frames, eaves and fences. A spider control Sydney treatment works around the outside of the house, which clears the webs and stops them from coming back. Redbacks are treated directly where they shelter, under outdoor furniture, in letterboxes and along retaining walls. Funnel-webs are different again, because they live in burrows in damp soil rather than on the building, so we will show you what draws them in.

Termite Treatment Sydney

Termites cause more damage to Sydney homes than any other pest, and they are usually well established before anyone notices. They travel underground and get in through the subfloor, small cracks in a slab, or timber sitting against the ground. Our termite treatment Sydney service begins with a full inspection of the subfloor, roof space, frame, fences and garden. From there, your home is protected with either a chemical barrier in the soil or a baiting system, and we point out the damp and timber problems that attracted them.

Possum Control Sydney

Heavy thumping across the ceiling around dusk is almost always a possum that has found a gap in the roof. Possums are protected in NSW, so they cannot be harmed or taken somewhere else and released. All of our possum removal Sydney work is done under licence, releasing the possum on the same property at dusk within fifty metres of where it was caught, then closing off the way it got in. Broken tiles, gaps along the eaves and overhanging branches are sorted at the same time.

Ants trailing across a surface, treated by ant pest control SydneyYEAR ROUND

Ant Pest Control Sydney

Ants are the most persistent household pest in Sydney, whether they are pushing sand up between the pavers or trailing across the kitchen bench. Spraying the trail only kills the ones you can see, while the nest keeps producing more, so the problem comes straight back. Our ant pest control Sydney service uses a bait matched to the species, which the ants carry back and share through the colony. Outside, we treat garden beds, paving joints and the base of walls where the nests usually sit.

Wasp nest under the eaves, treated by wasp pest control SydneySAFETY RISK

Wasp Control Sydney

A wasp nest near the house is a real safety risk, especially with children or pets in the yard. European wasps build hidden nests inside wall cavities, retaining walls and roof spaces, while paper wasps build the small open combs you see under eaves and pergolas. Wasp control Sydney homes need is best done at dusk, when the whole colony is inside, so we treat the nest directly at its entrance and then remove it. If it turns out to be honey bees, we arrange a beekeeper to collect the swarm.

Bed Bug Pest Control Sydney

Bed bugs hide within a metre or two of the bed, in mattress seams, bed frames, skirting boards and even power points, which is why a general spray never reaches them. Our bed bug pest control Sydney service starts with a full strip and inspection of the bed and everything around it, treating every spot they are hiding in, followed by a second visit to catch any eggs that have hatched since. We will also talk you through the washing and vacuuming needed alongside it.

Residential Pest Control Services to Suit Your Home

Termite Inspection and Protection Plans

Termites are not covered by a general treatment and need a plan of their own. We inspect the whole property, including the subfloor and roof space, and give you a written report with photos of anything we find. From there, we set up protection with a soil barrier or a baiting system, or simply monitor the property if there is no activity yet. An annual inspection keeps that protection valid.

  • Full inspection to Australian Standards
  • Soil barrier or baiting system installed
  • Written report with photos
  • Annual check to keep cover in place

Targeted Treatment for One Specific Pest

Sometimes there is only one problem, and it needs solving properly. Bed bugs, fleas left behind by a previous tenant, a wasp nest above the front door, rats in the roof or a possum that has moved in all need their own method and timing rather than a general spray. Most of these jobs can be booked for the same day or the next.

  • Pest identified before we treat
  • Follow-up visit where it is needed
  • Entry points sealed as part of the job

Ongoing Residential Pest Management Through the Year

Residential pest management works to the seasons instead of waiting for a problem. We time visits to the summer cockroach rush, the autumn move indoors by rats and mice, and the spring rise in spiders and ants, renewing the barrier outside before each one. It suits homes near bushland, reserves and waterways, and landlords looking after more than one property.

  • Two or three visits across the year
  • Termite check built into the schedule
  • Priority booking in between visits
  • One contact for landlords and agents

Common Causes of Pest Problems in Sydney Homes

Most callouts trace back to the same handful of spots around a house. Knowing which one applies to yours means we can aim the treatment properly from the very first visit.

Damp Subfloors Under Older Homes

Older terraces and semis often have vents that have been painted over or blocked by a garden bed, which traps moisture under the house. That dark, damp space is exactly what termites, spiders and silverfish look for, and because nobody goes down there, it usually goes unnoticed for years.

Gaps in the Roof and Along the Eaves

Droppings in the insulation, a stain spreading across the ceiling or thumping at dusk all point to something living above you. Lifted tiles, gaps at the eaves and branches touching the roof give rats and possums a way in that baiting alone will never close.

Warm Spaces Behind Kitchen Appliances

Cockroaches need warmth, moisture and somewhere tight to hide, and the gap behind a dishwasher or fridge offers all three. Seeing one during the day usually means there are plenty more out of sight, so the treatment has to reach inside that space rather than across the bench.

Shared Walls in Units and Townhouses

In apartments, semis and townhouses, pests travel between homes through plumbing gaps, service cupboards and shared wall cavities. Treating one home while the neighbour goes untreated just moves the problem next door, so sealing those gaps matters as much as the treatment itself.

Gardens, Pools and Fence Lines

Woodpiles, retaining walls, pot plants and thick mulch against the wall give spiders and ants somewhere to gather barely a metre from the back door. Water sitting in pot saucers, pool covers and blocked gutters can breed mosquitoes in under a week.

Renovations, New Gardens and Stored Timber

Fresh landscaping, a new deck, sleepers or offcuts stacked beside the house add moisture and timber right where termites are looking. Renovations also open up wall cavities and disturb anything already living in them, which pushes pests into the rest of the house.

What to expect

How Your Residential Pest Treatment Works

Effective pest control starts with understanding the problem. Our pest control in Sydney team inspects the affected areas, identifies the pest and looks for conditions that may be allowing it to enter or remain around your home. We then explain what we have found, recommend the right treatment and carry out the work with your household in mind.

Step 01

Inspection and Identification

We walk through the whole property, inside and out, including the roof space and subfloor wherever we can get access. The pest is identified properly rather than guessed at, and we note where it is getting in and what is making your home attractive to it.

Step 02

Treatment Matched to Your Home

The method suits both the pest and the property. Gel and dust go into cavities, bait stations sit well out of reach of children and pets, and a protective treatment runs around the outside of the house. We will tell you what to move beforehand and when everything will be dry.

Step 03

Prevention, Warranty and Follow Up

We seal the gaps we can and list anything that needs a tradesperson, because no treatment stops a rat coming back through an open hole. You will get a record of the visit, a warranty on the pests we treated, and a free return visit if anything shows up again inside that period.

Booked in after seeing cockroaches in the kitchen at night. Rather than just spraying the benches, they worked out the problem was behind the dishwasher and treated it there. Two weeks on and we have not seen a single one.

Common questions

Frequently Asked Questions About Residential Pest Control in Sydney

How often should a Sydney home have pest control?

For most homes, once a year is enough, ideally in early spring before cockroaches and spiders become active. Homes backing onto bushland or a reserve, ground floor units and anywhere with a history of cockroaches or rats are better off with two visits a year. Termite inspections should be done annually no matter what.

What does a general pest treatment include?

Inside, we treat cupboards, skirting boards, wet areas, the laundry, the garage and behind your appliances. Outside, we cover the perimeter of the house, eaves, window and door frames, fence lines, the bin area and the meter box. The roof space and subfloor are included wherever we can safely get access.

Is pest control safe for children and pets?

Yes, once the treated surfaces are dry, which usually takes about two hours. The products we use are approved for use in homes and applied at the correct rates. Before we start, we will cover fish tanks, ask you to move pet bowls and bedding, and place any bait where children and pets cannot get to it.

Do I need to empty my cupboards or leave the house?

There is no need to empty your cupboards. Just clear the benchtops, put food and dishes away and move pet bedding out of the way. You only need to be out of the house while we work and until the treated surfaces have dried, not for the whole day.

How long does it take to work?

Spiders and ants usually drop off within a few days. Cockroaches take one to two weeks as the bait works through the colony. Rats and mice can take two to three weeks depending on what else they have to feed on. Bed bugs need the second visit before the job is finished.

What if the pests come back?

Give us a call, and we will come back and treat again at no cost, as long as it is within the warranty period and it is a pest we treated. A few things sit outside the warranty, such as cockroaches spreading from an untreated neighbouring unit, and we will always explain that before we start.
